Everybody plays games for different reasons. Most guy gamers think it’d be awesome if every chick out there played video games; sadly, they don’t. DEFCON:AWESOME’s PopCulturePanda lets us in how she fell out of love with video games and how she’s making amends with that past and picking up the controller again nowadays.

DEFCON:AWESOME teamed up with guerrilla photographer Imoto to capture the video game cosplayers at this year’s annual Anime Weekend Atlanta convention. From cross-dressing Mario Bros to (possibly the most obscure Assassin’s Creed character) Kadar, there were some really impressive efforts this year.

Dragon*Con is a huge convention for geek culture in Atlanta. One weekend every year, over 30K people gather in costumed celebration of their favorite fictional characters. DEFCON:AWESOME was on the scene and gathered a gallery of gaming related awesomeness.

Each month, DEFCON:AWESOME takes the hottest female characters from last month’s games, scours the internet for fan art and cosplayers, distills all of this hotness down and delivers it to you. StarCraft II’s Kerrigan, Monkey Island 2′s Elaine Marley, Persona 3′s Mitsuru, & Arc Rise Fantasia’s Leslie battle it out to see who is crowned the Hottest Game Girl of July 2010.
